Life as an adult can be difficult at times, especially when it comes to diet. Getting older comes with a slower metabolism and on top of it all your waist line won’t be getting any smaller with out you feeding your body good healthy food and getting the proper nutrients it needs.
Eat Good, Feel Good.
We all know that what we eat effects how we feel, especially as an adult, you might be able to eat a couple slices of pizza and feel okay but anymore then that and your’e in sluggish heartburn and acid-reflex city but, when you are eating healthy, watching your portions, and consuming a LOT of fruits and vegetables you have high energy and feel great too.
So Much To Eat.
How much fruit and vegetables should we be eating a day? The FDA says that we need to consume at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day AT LEAST or 2 servings of fruit and 3 servings of vegetables. How much is a serving? Typically,
1 piece of fruit or a 1/2 cup = 1 Serving,
1 cup vegetables = 1 Serving,
So you need to be eating at least 3 cups of vegetables and 1 cup or 2 pieces of fruit.
Okay so we know how much we need to eat and it looks manageable. I mean, come on, I love eating raw foods right? However, if you’re like me then you know that eating 2 pieces of fruit a day is totally doable, a banana here and an apple there, I’m good I’ll just go to the store, buy a bunch and a bag and I’m set! It’s just eating all those pesky vegetables, 3 cups worth of them, everyday. I cannot tell you how many times I go to the store and skip the fresh vegetable section all together due to the ghosts of rotted vegetables past forever haunting me. I go to the store and at first I’m all like, yay Kale, then it gets home and it gets put away and a few days later I start looking for something delicious to eat and its not so, yay kale anymore, it usually gets shrugged off or pushed aside and finally wasted. So what are we to do in order to get all that nutrient rich food into our oh so sexy self?
